Proposed road works in Tseung Kwan O gazetted

     The Government gazetted today (January 3) the proposed road works in Tseung Kwan O to serve the traffic demand induced by the future public housing developments in the area.

     Details of the proposal are set out in the Annex. The plans and scheme of the works are available for public inspection at the following government offices during office hours:

     The gazette notice, scheme, plans and location plan will be available at

     Any person who wishes to object to the works or the use, or both, is required to address to the Secretary for Transport and Housing an objection in writing, which can be submitted via the following means:
 

  • By post or by hand to the Transport and Housing Bureau's drop-in box No. 6 located at the entrance on 2/F, East Wing, Central Government Offices, 2 Tim Mei Avenue, Tamar, Hong Kong. The box is available for use between 8am and 7pm from Monday to Friday (except public holidays);
  • By fax to 2868 4643; or
  • By email to gazettethb@thb.gov.hk.

     A notice of objection should describe the objector's interest and the manner in which he or she alleges that he or she will be affected by the works or the use. Objectors are requested to provide contact details to facilitate communication. A notice of objection should be delivered to the Secretary for Transport and Housing not later than March 3, 2020.




Government announces appointment to Hong Kong Tourism Board

     The Government today (January 3) announced the appointment of Mr Fong Lik-sun as a new member of the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) for a term of two years from January 1, 2020, to December 31, 2021.

     "We welcome Mr Fong in joining the Board. With the expertise and experience of Mr Fong and other members in different areas, we are confident that they will help the HKTB in enhancing Hong Kong's position as a premier tourist destination," a spokesman for the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau said.

     Appointments to the HKTB are made by the Financial Secretary under section 9 of the Hong Kong Tourism Board Ordinance (Chapter 302), under authority delegated by the Chief Executive.




Burial and cremation services to be suspended on Lunar New Year’s Day

     The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) announced today (January 3) that services for the disposal of the dead will be suspended on Lunar New Year's Day (January 25).
 
     An FEHD spokesman said, "All cemeteries and crematoria offices of the department will be closed on Lunar New Year's Day. No coffins will be accepted for burial at public cemeteries and no cremations will be undertaken at public crematoria.
 
     "Cremation services and burial services will resume normal operation on January 26."

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department announced today (January 3) that due to big waves, the red flag has been hoisted at Clear Water Bay Second Beach in Sai Kung District.  Beach-goers are advised not to swim at the beach.
