The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will hold two "Territory-wide Physical Fitness Survey for the Community" fun days in January 2022 to enable participants to have a general understanding of his or her own fitness condition. Members of the public are welcome to join the activities for free.
      
     The survey aims to set up a database on the physical fitness of Hong Kong people, identify the relationship between physical exercise patterns and the physical fitness of Hong Kong people as well as assist the Government in identifying priority areas for improvement to enhance the overall physical fitness of the community.
      
     The survey will cover 8 500 Hong Kong people aged between 7 and 79. The sample sizes required for various age groups in the survey are calculated based on the population proportion in the Hong Kong. Data collection of the survey is expected to be complete early next year. The survey findings will be announced in the fourth quarter of 2022.

     Members of the public who would like to take part in the survey could register on the designated webpage (pfs2021.com.hk) under the "Registration Login for Invited Participants" section by using the above-mentioned specified login ID and password and select a timeslot for the test. The survey will last around an hour. Fifteen participants could be accommodated per hour at the same time. A limited walk-in registration is also available at the venues on a first-come, first-served basis.

     All participants are reminded to wear masks, have their body temperature checked and scan the "LeaveHomeSafe" QR code. Persons aged below 12 or aged 65 or above and those with disabilities that render use of the app difficult will be exempted from the requirement to use the app. They will be required instead to complete a form to register their name, the first four digits or letters of their identification document, their contact number and the date and time of their visit. Exempted persons will also be required to present relevant identification documents for verification at the request of the staff on-site during registration. The staff will also verify the contact numbers by making phone calls.

  

     Police National Security Department today (December 30) officially laid charges against two men, aged 34 and 52 respectively, and an online media company, each with one count of conspiracy to publish seditious publication. The National Security Department also issued prosecution document to the company, prosecuting the company for committing the above-mentioned offence and requesting them to appoint representatives to attend the court mention this afternoon.

     The two persons were arrested yesterday (December 29) for conspiracy to publish seditious publication, contravening section 9 and 10 of the Crimes Ordinance.

     The case will be mentioned at the West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts this afternoon.

     The other arrestees are being detained for further enquires.

     The Hospital Authority (HA) spokesperson today (December 30) said that 14 general out-patient clinics (GOPCs) (see table below) will provide services during the New Year holiday (January 1, 2022). Members of the public are reminded to make advance bookings for appointments either through the Telephone Appointment System or the "Book GOPC" function in the "HA Go" mobile application.
 
     The spokesperson remarked that the Accident and Emergency (A&E) Departments in public hospitals will also operate as usual during the holiday to serve patients with urgent medical needs. Non-urgent patients are advised to consider seeking consultation at GOPCs, private doctors or the 24-hour clinics of private hospitals. As the Emergency Response Level has been activated in public hospitals in light of the COVID-19 epidemic, infection control measures have been enhanced with universal masking for all persons entering public hospitals and clinics.
 
     In addition, the spokesperson urged the public to continue to stay vigilant when celebrating the holiday. They should maintain personal and environmental hygiene to prevent infection and spreading the virus in the community. The public should seek medical advice early for respiratory symptoms. Moreover, members of the public should also receive COVID-19 vaccination as early as possible.
 
     Members of the public are welcome to browse the designated website www.ha.org.hk/goto/wintersurge/en and "Service Surge Online" in the "HA Go" mobile application for key service statistics, A&E Department waiting times and medical consultation information. In addition, members of the public can obtain specimen collection packs for COVID-19 tests during the holiday or submit specimens at nine GOPCs (see table below) within the specified time.      The Department of Health (DH) today (December 30) reminded the public that under the Smoking (Public Health) Ordinance (Amendment of Schedule 2) Order 2021 and the Smoking (Public Health) (Designation of No Smoking Areas) (Amendment) Notice 2021 effective from tomorrow (December 31), no smoking areas (NSAs) will be extended to cover three additional bus interchanges (BIs) leading to expressways or tunnels and two more public transport facilities (PTFs), whereas the NSAs of a further two BIs and four other PTFs will be revised.
 
     "To protect public health, it is the established policy of the Government to discourage smoking, contain the proliferation of tobacco use and protect the public from second-hand smoke. The extension of NSAs aims at further protecting the public from the harm of second-hand smoke," a spokesman for the DH said.
 
     When the latest Order and the Notice come into effect tomorrow, the smoking ban will cover all 14 BIs leading to expressways or tunnels and 255 PTFs throughout the territory.

     No-smoking signs and layout plans will be put up, and demarcation lines will be displayed to indicate clearly the boundaries with regard to the respective physical settings at the new NSAs to remind the public of the smoke-free requirements. Plans showing the boundaries of the NSAs are available in the Land Registry, and will be uploaded to the Tobacco and Alcohol Control Office's website (www.taco.gov.hk/t/english/legislation/legislation_sa.html) for public inspection.
 
     Any person who smokes or carries a lighted cigarette, cigar or pipe in a designated NSA or in public transport carriers will be liable for a fixed penalty of $1,500. Tobacco and Alcohol Control Inspectors will prosecute smoking offenders without prior warning.
 
     "We appeal to smokers to quit smoking as early as possible for their own health and that of others. They are encouraged to call the DH's Integrated Smoking Cessation Hotline on 1833 183. The hotline is operated by registered nurses, providing professional counselling services on smoking cessation," the spokesman said.
 
The three BIs newly designated as NSAs are:

1. Fanling Highway Bus Interchange;
2. Tseung Kwan O Tunnel Bus Interchange; and
3. Tuen Mun-Chek Lap Kok Tunnel Bus Interchange.
 
The two PTFs newly designated as NSAs are:

1. Chun Yeung Estate Public Transport Interchange, Fo Tan; and
2. Sau Mau Ping (Central) Bus Terminus.
 
The two BIs with revised NSAs are:

1. Cross-Harbour Tunnel Bus Interchange; and
2. Eastern Harbour Crossing Bus Interchange.
 
The four PTFs with revised NSAs are:

1. Tai Po Market Station Public Transport Interchange;
2. Siu Hong Court Bus Terminus, Tuen Mun;
3. Kwun Tong Station Public Transport Interchange; and
4. Wong Chuk Hang Temporary Bus Terminus.

     The Department of Justice (DoJ) today (December 30) launched the Combined DoJ Chinese-English Glossary of Legal Terms (Combined C-E Glossary), following the launch of the Combined DoJ English-Chinese Glossary of Legal Terms (Combined E-C Glossary) in September, to continue to promote the development of legal bilingualism in Hong Kong.

     Each of the combined glossaries (www.glossary.doj.gov.hk) consists of six glossaries prepared by the Civil Division, the Constitutional and Policy Affairs Division, the International Law Division, the Law Drafting Division, the Law Reform Commission Secretariat and the Prosecutions Division, with more than 60 000 entries which are legal terms commonly used in Hong Kong sourced from Hong Kong legislation, judicial authorities and other legal publications.

     For users' convenience, both combined glossaries are hosted on the same website and share the same search engine. The webpage will automatically switch between the Combined E-C Glossary and the Combined C-E Glossary depending on whether the user searches an English or Chinese keyword.

     "It is hoped that the combined glossaries can facilitate legal translation work and also promote the broader use of Chinese in the legal field in Hong Kong," a DoJ spokesperson said.

     The existing "English-Chinese Glossary" and "Chinese-English Glossary" on the Hong Kong e-Legislation website will discontinue service in due course.
