Temporary closure of community halls and community centres

     In view of the latest COVID-19 situation and to align with the further tightening of social distancing measures of the Government, the Home Affairs Department (HAD) announced today (January 6) that all community halls and community centres, except when being used as temporary cold shelters, will be temporarily closed for 14 days from tomorrow (January 7) until January 20.

Heng On Sports Centre fully reopened

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department announced today (January 6) that all facilities of Heng On Sports Centre in Sha Tin District have been reopened. Some facilities of the sports centre were temporarily closed earlier due to a power failure.

Auctions of vehicle registration marks postponed

     To reduce the risk of the spread of COVID-19 in the community, the Transport Department (TD) today (January 6) announced that the auctions of traditional vehicle registration marks scheduled for January 8 and 15, and the auction of personalised vehicle registration marks scheduled for January 9, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre will be postponed. Applicants will be notified by the TD of the details of the rescheduled auctions later.

Temporary closure of Hong Kong Park Sports Centre

     A spokesman for the Leisure and Cultural Services Department said today (January 6) that since a person with a confirmed case of coronavirus disease 2019 had visited the Hong Kong Park Sports Centre, the Centre will be temporarily closed at 11am today for thorough cleaning and disinfection of the facilities. Relevant staff of the Centre will also need to undergo compulsory testing and are required to obtain a negative test result before resuming duties.
