Invitation of tenders for tenancies at Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Hong Kong Port

     The Government Property Agency is inviting two separate tenders for (i) Shop No. 303 and (ii) Shop No. 304, both on the Ground Floor, Passenger Clearance Building, 33 Shun Fai Road, Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Hong Kong Port, Lantau, Hong Kong, each for a three-year tenancy subject to the provisions for renewal for a further term of two years.

     The two premises should only be used for general retail and/or services purposes excluding storage, sale or display of:

(1) dutiable goods as defined under the Dutiable Commodities Ordinance (Cap. 109), unless the premises have been issued with a warehouse licence under the Dutiable Commodities Ordinance (Cap. 109);

(2) duty-paid goods as defined under the Dutiable Commodities Ordinance (Cap. 109); and

(3) goods, merchandise or commodities that are from time to time prohibited from import into Hong Kong under the laws of Hong Kong.

     The decision of the landlord as to what constitutes goods, merchandise or commodities under (3) above shall be final, conclusive and binding on the Tenant. All references in the Form of Tenancy Agreement to the Dutiable Commodities Ordinance (Cap. 109) shall include any regulations made thereunder and any amending legislation.

     The tender notices were uploaded today (July 25) to the Agency's website: www.gpa.gov.hk. Tender documents are available for collection at the Government Property Agency, 9/F, South Tower, West Kowloon Government Offices, 11 Hoi Ting Road, Yau Ma Tei, Kowloon, during the period from 9am to 6pm from Monday to Friday, except public holidays. The documents can also be downloaded from the Agency's website.

     Interested tenderers who wish to conduct a site inspection of the premises should make a prior appointment with the Agency by calling 3842 6915 on or before August 4.

     Tenderers must submit their tenders by placing them in the Government Logistics Department Tender Box situated on the Ground Floor, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point, Hong Kong, before noon on August 21. Late tenders will not be accepted.




Appeal for information on missing man in Kwai Chung (with photo)

     Police today (July 25) appealed to the public for information on a man who went missing in Kwai Chung.
 
     Chow Lung, aged 82, went missing after he was last seen in Chun Pin Street on July 21 morning. His family made a report to Police on the same day.
 
     He is about 1.58 metres tall, 50 kilograms in weight and of thin build. He has a pointed face with yellow complexion and is bald.

     Anyone who knows the whereabouts of the missing man or may have seen him is urged to contact the Regional Missing Persons Unit of New Territories North on 3661 3127 or email to rmpu-ntn-1@police.gov.hk, or contact any police station.

Proprietor fined for violation of safety legislation

     Hop Ching Marble Company Limited was fined $43,000 at Fanling Magistrates' Courts today (July 25) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance. The prosecution was launched by the Labour Department.

     The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on November 3, 2022, at a factory in Yuen Long. While a grinding and polishing machine was undergoing testing after the changing of a cutting disc, it was suspected that a hard object which detached and shot out from the machine struck a worker assisting in the work. The worker sustained a serious head injury and passed away nine days later.
 




Appointments to Insurance Appeals Tribunal

     The Government announced today (July 25) that the Financial Secretary, under the authority delegated by the Chief Executive, has appointed 16 new members and reappointed 11 serving members to the panel of the Insurance Appeals Tribunal (IAT) for a new term from July 26, 2023, to July 25, 2025.

The current chairperson of the IAT is Ms Rachel Lam Yan-kay, SC. 




Red flags hoisted at some beaches

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department announced today (July 25) that due to big waves, red flags have been hoisted at Shek O Beach and Big Wave Bay Beach in Southern District, Hong Kong Island; and Hap Mun Bay Beach in Sai Kung District. Beachgoers are advised not to swim at these beaches.
