Appeal for information on missing woman in Chai Wan (with photo)

     Police today (August 31) appealed to the public for information on a woman who went missing in Chai Wan.

     Keung Pui-fung, aged 58, went missing after she was last seen in Shau Kei Wan yesterday (August 30) afternoon. Her family made a report to Police on the same day.

     She is about 1.6 metres tall, 60 kilograms in weight and of fat build. She has a round face with yellow complexion and long black hair. She was last seen wearing a black tee, blue trousers, grey sports shoes and carrying a white bag.

     Anyone who knows the whereabouts of the missing woman or may have seen her is urged to contact the Regional Missing Persons Unit of Kowloon West on 3661 8036 or 9020 6542 or email to rmpu-kw@police.gov.hk, or contact any police station.

Opening of park located east of Fan Kam Road postponed

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) announced today (August 31) that with Super Typhoon Saola approaching Hong Kong, the opening of the park located east of Fan Kam Road, originally scheduled for tomorrow (September 1), will be postponed. The new opening time will be announced when the venue clearance work is completed by the LCSD after typhoon.




Public services in LegCo Complex under adverse weather conditions

The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:

     With Super Typhoon Saola edging closer to Hong Kong, the Observatory will issue the Gale or Storm Signal No.8 tomorrow (September 1). The public services in the Legislative Council (LegCo) Complex for tomorrow will be as follows:
 

  • When the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or above or a Black Rainstorm Warning Signal is in force, the services of the LegCo Public Complaints Office, the LegCo Library, the LegCo Archives as well as guided tours and the education service will be suspended.

 

  • Services will be resumed two hours after the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No.8 or above or a Black Rainstorm Warning Signal is cancelled. However, if the above Signal is cancelled at or after 3pm, services will be suspended for the whole day.



Update on cluster of Candida auris cases in Queen Elizabeth Hospital

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     Regarding an earlier announcement on Candida auris carrier cases, the spokesperson for Queen Elizabeth Hospital gave the following update today (August 31):

     Following a contact tracing investigation, one more female patient, aged 78, in the High Dependency Unit of the Department of Neurosurgery was also identified as a carrier of Candida auris while not having signs of infection. She is in stable condition and is now being treated in isolation in Kowloon Hospital.

     The hospital will continue the contact tracing investigation of close contacts of the patient in accordance with the prevailing guidelines. A series of enhanced infection control measures have already been adopted to prevent the spread of Candida auris:
 

  1. Thorough cleaning and disinfection of the wards concerned;
  2. Enhanced admission screening for patients and environmental screening procedures; and
  3. Application of stringent contact precautions and enhanced hand hygiene of staff and patients.

     The hospital will continue to closely monitor the situation of the patient. The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.




Flag-lowering ceremony cancelled

     As the Strong Wind Signal No. 3 is now in force, the flag-lowering ceremony to be conducted at Golden Bauhinia Square, Wan Chai at 6pm today (August 31) will be cancelled.

     If the Strong Wind Signal No. 3 is cancelled and weather conditions permit by then, the flag-lowering ceremony may be resumed without further notice.
