Temporary Closure of the Hong Kong Wetland Park

TV/Radio Announcers please broadcast the following as soon as possible:
 
     As Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or above is now in force, the Hong Kong Wetland Park is closed. The Park will re-open two hours after the signal is lowered. The Park will remain closed today if the signal No. 8 or above remains hoisted at 2pm. Any person or organisation who has paid a deposit for visiting today can contact the Park's ticket office for refund arrangements or to change the visit date.




Typhoon Saola situation report (1)

     The Hong Kong Observatory issued No. 8 Northwest Gale or Storm Signal at 2.40am today (September 1).

     The Home Affairs Department has so far opened 33 temporary shelters in various districts and 147 people have sought refuge at the shelters.

     As at 6am today, no reports of fallen trees, landslide or flooding have been received so far. 

     According to the Hospital Authority, as at 4.40am today, no people have sought medical treatment at public hospitals during the typhoon period.




Suspension of services of Transport Department

     The Transport Department today (September 1) announced that the public services under the department, i.e. the Licensing Offices at Admiralty, Cheung Sha Wan, Kwun Tong and Sha Tin, the Public Vehicles Unit, the Cross Boundary Unit, the Vehicle Examination Centres, the Driving Test Appointment Office, the Driving Test Centres and the Written Test Centre, will be suspended until further notice as the No.8 gale or storm signal is now in force.
 
     Candidates scheduled for a driving test (including road test and written test) during the suspension of services will be individually informed of the alternative arrangements.
 
     Vehicle examinations scheduled during the suspension of services will be cancelled. Members of the public who have made an appointment can make a new appointment after the vehicle examination centres reopen.
 
     Moreover, for applicants who have made an appointment for driving licence-related services, renewal of vehicle licence, transfer of vehicle ownership, application for a duplicate vehicle registration document/duplicate vehicle licence or an international driving permit, retention, transfer or assignment of vehicle registration mark, at any timeslot during the suspension of services, they may proceed to the Licensing Offices to submit their applications during opening hours (from 9am to 5pm from Monday to Friday) on or before September 8 without the need to make another appointment.
 




Hospital Authority Service Arrangement

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:
 
     The Hospital Authority announces that as the Hong Kong Observatory has issued Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8, its general out-patient clinics, specialist out-patient clinics, allied health and other day services will be closed while the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 is in force. Patients, who have scheduled appointments, are advised to make a new appointment after the cancellation of the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8. 

     Service of Accident & Emergency Department at public hospitals remains normal.




Announcement by Judiciary on gale warning arrangements

The following is issued on behalf of the Judiciary:

Attention duty announcers, radio and TV stations:

     Please broadcast the following as soon as possible and repeat it at suitable intervals:

     The Judiciary has announced that as the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 was still in force at 6am, all hearings of the courts and tribunals will be adjourned this morning (September 1).

     Hearings will remain adjourned this afternoon if the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 is still in force at or after 11am.

     Court/tribunal registries and offices will remain closed until further notice. Court users may continue to use the integrated Court Case Management System (iCMS) for electronic services provided by the registries of the District Court and Magistrates' Courts as usual. Any documents filed via the iCMS during the registries' closure period will be deemed to have been received upon their reopening.
