     The Hong Kong Observatory has issued the Very Hot Weather Warning.

     To prevent heat stroke, avoid prolonged activities outdoors.

     If engaged in outdoor work or activities, wear a wide-brimmed hat and light-coloured, loose-fitting clothes. Stay in shaded areas as much as possible.

     Drink plenty of water, and avoid beverages containing caffeine or alcohol.

     If you feel sick, consult a doctor right away.

Young flautist and composer Angus Lee to show superb skills (with photo)

     Young flute virtuoso Angus Lee will give a recital in October as part of the "Our Music Talents" Series presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD). He will collaborate with pianist Rachel Cheung and Mark Hui and show his superb skills by playing a variety of compositions.

     The programme will include André Jolivet's "Chant de Linos", Bruno Mantovani's "Quatre Mélodies Arméniennes", Lowell Liebermann's "Sonata for Flute and Piano", Angus Lee's "Lapsus Memoriae" and Richard Strauss' "Sonata in E-flat for Flute and Piano".
 
     Angus Lee is a versatile performer and composer who graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and the Royal Academy of Music in Britain with the highest honours. His principal teachers include Tim Wilson, Olivier Nowak, Samuel Coles and Kate Hill. In 2012, Lee was selected as one of the Young Music Makers by Radio Television Hong Kong. In 2016, Lee was invited to perform as a soloist at Lucerne Festival Academy founder Pierre Boulez's memorial concert in Switzerland.
 
     Lee is currently a member of the Hong Kong New Music Ensemble, and a founding member of the local chamber music collective, NOVA Ensemble, as well as a regular freelance musician with the Hong Kong Sinfonietta. Lee is a self-taught composer, and his works have been commissioned and performed by various international and local music groups including the Hong Kong New Music Ensemble, Hong Kong Sinfonietta, MIT Saxophone Ensemble in Taiwan, Kollektiv International Totem in Switzerland, Ensemble Suono Giallo in Italy and Trio Accanto in Germany, as well as the CYCLE Music and Art Festival in Iceland, Ciclo de Música Contemporánea de Oviedo in Spain and Asian Music Festival in Japan.
 
     "Our Music Talents" Series: Flute Recital by Angus Lee will be staged at 8pm on October 14 (Sunday) at the Theatre of Hong Kong City Hall. Lifesaving services suspended at Deep Water Bay Beach

     Please broadcast the following as soon as possible and repeat it at regular intervals:

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department announced today (September 5) that due to an insufficient number of lifeguards on duty, the lifesaving services at Deep Water Bay Beach in Southern District, Hong Kong Island, are suspended until further notice.

     First aid service will be maintained at the beach.
