All public services in LegCo Complex to resume gradually this morning

The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:

     The Legislative Council (LegCo) Secretariat announced that all guided tours and services to the public in the LegCo Complex, including the service of the Public Complaints Office and visits to the LegCo Library, Archives and Children's Corner, will gradually be resumed normal this morning (June 24).




Red flags hoisted at some beaches

Here is an item of interest to swimmers.

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department announced today (June 24) that due to big waves, red flags have been hoisted at Turtle Cove Beach in Southern District, Hong Kong Island; Hung Shing Yeh Beach, Lo So Shing Beach and Lower Cheung Sha Beach in Islands District. Beach-goers are advised not to swim at these beaches.




Flag-raising ceremony cancelled

     Owing to the thunderstorm warning, the flag-raising ceremony to be conducted at Golden Bauhinia Square, Wan Chai at 8am today (June 24) will be cancelled.




CGO reopens today

Attention duty announcers, radio and TV stations:

Please broadcast the following message as soon as possible and repeat it at suitable intervals:

     The Central Government Offices (CGO), Tamar will be reopened today (June 24). Staff working in the CGO can enter the workplace via staff entrance on 2/F of the East Wing.

     Government vehicles or vehicles with valid permit may enter West Wing of CGO via Lung Wo Road and Tim Wa Avenue.




Correctional officers stop assault on person in custody

     Correctional officers at Tong Fuk Correctional Institution on Lantau Island stopped a person in custody from assaulting another person in custody today (June 23).

     At around 5.40pm today, a 35-year-old male person in custody attacked another 24-year-old male person in custody with a table tennis racket in the activity yard. Officers at the scene immediately stopped the assailant and used OC foam to subdue him after warnings were ignored.
     
     The victim sustained head injury. After examination and treatment by the medical officer of the institution hospital, he was referred to a public hospital for further treatment. The assailant did not sustain any injury.
     
     The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.
     
    The two persons in custody were sentenced to imprisonment for the offences of robbery and detention of a person respectively.
