The Leisure and Cultural Services Department announced today (July 28) that due to an incident in the vicinity, Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park Sports Centre, Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park Swimming Pool, Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park Soccer Pitch, Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park Basketball Courts and Sheung Wan Sports Centre in Central and Western District have been closed.

At around 7pm today (July 28), a group of protestors gathered on the main roads in the vicinity of the Western Division Police Station. As some protestors hurled bricks at the Police officers and the situation is drastically deteriorating, Police are now conducting a dispersal operation eastward with tear gas used. Police appeal to the protestors to leave the area immediately and not to charge Police cordon lines. Members of the public should avoid travelling to the area.

The Marine Department announces that since the cross-boundary ferry service and helicopters service will stop using the Hong Kong-Macau Ferry Terminal in Sheung Wan starting 7pm, the services provided at the Hong Kong-Macau Ferry Terminal will be suspended.

The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health is today (July 28) investigating a suspected food poisoning case involving consumption of mushrooms.
The case involves a 23-year-old female, who developed dizziness, nausea and vomiting about 3 hours after having lunch at home yesterday with mushrooms purchased from a shop in Sheung Shui. She sought medical attention at the Accident and Emergency Department of North District Hospital and was admitted to the hospital for further management on the same day. She is in a stable condition.
The CHP investigations are ongoing.
"Mushroom poisoning is generally acute. Common presentations include gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain appearing shortly after ingestion. Depending on the mushroom species, patients may also have other symptoms like profuse sweating, hallucination, coma or other neurological symptoms, as well as liver failure. Death may result in severe cases," a CHP spokesman said.
"We advise the public to buy mushrooms from reputable and reliable suppliers and not to buy mushroom products which may be mixed with unknown species. Members of the public should not pick wild mushrooms for consumption as it is difficult to distinguish edible mushroom species from inedible ones. Mixing of edible species with inedible or poisonous species of mushroom will not dilute toxicity. Cooking in most cases does not destroy toxicity," the spokesman added.
"If mushroom poisoning is suspected, the patient should seek immediate medical attention and bring along any available remnant for identification," the spokesman said.

At 3pm today (July 28), a public meeting was held in Chater Garden, Central and half an hour later, some of the participants suddenly deviated from the approved location and proceeded to thoroughfares. They are currently walking along Queensway and Hennessy Road towards Wan Chai, obstructing the traffic in the vicinity.
