Labour Department investigates fatal work accident in North District

     The Labour Department (LD) is investigating a fatal work accident that occurred in The Boxes in North District this afternoon (August 10) in which a security guard died.

     The LD immediately deployed staff to the scene upon receiving a report of the accident, and is now conducting an investigation to look into its cause.




Early closure of some LCSD facilities in Yau Tsim Mong District

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) announced today (August 10) that due to an incident nearby, Kowloon Park Swimming Pool and Kowloon Park Sports Centre in Yau Tsim Mong District have been closed. Subject to the situation in the vicinity, more cultural and leisure facilities in the same district may also be closed early and at short notice to ensure the safety of venue users. Members of the public who plan to go to those venues in the district are advised to contact the venues concerned in advance.
 




No.3 alarm fire in Tuen Mun (2)

     A fire broke out at a construction site at 111 So Kwun Wat Road in Tuen Mun at 6.16pm today (August 10). The fire was upgraded to No.3 alarm at 6.33pm.

     Firemen are now using four jets and mobilising six breathing apparatus teams to fight the blaze.

     Two persons were injured.




Protestors set fire outside Tsim Sha Tsui Police Station

     Some protestors have started setting fires outside Tsim Sha Tsui Police Station, posing a serious threat to the safety of everyone at scene.
      
     Having given repeated warnings to the protestors but in vain, Police officers have deployed tear gas and minimum force to disperse protestors.
      
     Police appeal to everyone at scene to leave immediately and condemn all violent acts.
      
     Police also remind the residents in the area to stay tuned to the latest situation, keep their windows shut and stay indoors if necessary.
