Appointment to Deposit Protection Appeals Tribunal

     The Government announced today (March 26) the Chief Executive's appointment of Mr Charles Peter Manzoni, SC, as the Chairman of the Deposit Protection Appeals Tribunal (the Tribunal) for a term of three years with effect from April 1, 2021.
 
     A Government spokesperson said, "We thank Mr Anthony Kenneth Houghton, SC, the outgoing Chairman, for his service and contribution in the past years. We are confident that Mr Manzoni, with his expertise and experience, will contribute to the effective operation of the Tribunal."
 
     The Tribunal is established under the Deposit Protection Scheme Ordinance (Cap. 581) to hear appeals from depositors or member banks of the Deposit Protection Scheme who are aggrieved by certain decisions made by the Hong Kong Deposit Protection Board or the Monetary Authority in relation to the Scheme.
 
     The above appointment was gazetted today (March 26).
