The Government will set up Community Vaccination Centres (CVCs) at Loke Yew Hall of the University of Hong Kong (HKU) and Tsuen Wan Sports Centre to provide the public with the BioNTech vaccination service from February 23. Online reservations will start at 9am on Monday (February 21).
The Secretary for the Civil Service, Mr Patrick Nip, said, "The Government is making every effort to expedite the pace of vaccination and strive for reaching a vaccination rate of 90 per cent in the shortest period of time. I am especially grateful to HKU for providing the venue as well as the medical team formed by HKU for their full support to facilitate the setting up of this vaccination venue. The CVC at Loke Yew Hall, HKU, will gradually increase the distribution of same-day tickets so that elderly persons who are not familiar with online reservations may get vaccinated on the same day they visit the centre whenever they wish to be vaccinated.
"The current epidemic situation is of grave concern. The spreading threat posed by mutant virus strains is a looming risk to Hong Kong. We sincerely hope all persons who meet the age requirement, in particular elderly persons, to act fast and get vaccinated. For persons with elderly family members who are not vaccinated, please arrange vaccination for them immediately."
The CVC at Loke Yew Hall, HKU, is located at Loke Yew Hall, first floor, Main Building, HKU, Pok Fu Lam (enter via the West Gate Entrance on Pok Fu Lam Road). The CVC at Tsuen Wan Sports Centre is located at the ground floor of 53 Wing Shun Street, Tsuen Wan.
Both CVCs will operate daily from 8am to 8pm and will be closed between 1.30pm and 2.30pm for cleaning and disinfection. Eligible persons can receive their first, second or third dose of BioNTech vaccination at the CVCs. Persons aged 60 or above can collect same-day tickets at the CVCs.
