The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

Kowloon Hospital (KH), which commenced service in 1925, is celebrating its centenary by curating a series of "Musical Journey" for patients, their families, and healthcare staff. This initiative aims to convey positive energy through the arts of music, uplift the spirits of patients and provide them with psychological solace and support.

Last night (January 16), the main lobby of KH was transformed into a concert hall as the orchestra performed a selection of beautiful melodies, marking the inaugural event of this "Musical Journey". Volunteers were on hand to assist patients with mobility challenges in experiencing the power of music. The concert drew a substantial audience comprising patients, family members, and hospital staff, fostering a warm and joyful atmosphere.

The Hospital Chief Executive of KH, Dr Chris Tsang, said, "Holistic healthcare services emphasise not only the physical treatment of patients but also the significance of psychological, social, and spiritual care. Organising musical performances within the hospital not only adds a human touch to the environment but also possesses therapeutic qualities, helping both patients and healthcare staff to relax and feel supported and cared for beyond their routine treatments."

The Music Director of Global Symphony Orchestra, Mak Ka-lok, stated, "We hope to connect hearts through the musical performances, soothing the spirits of patients and their families and helping them relieve their emotions. It was incredibly encouraging to see the audience breathe and sway with the rhythm, fully immersed in the music. We wish all patients a swift recovery and peace and happiness."

Looking ahead, in addition to the symphonic performances, KH plans to invite a diverse array of musical artists, including renowned pop singers and jazz ensembles, to perform voluntarily in the hospital.
