The Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, Professor Sun Dong, will lead a delegation of representatives from the innovation and technology (I&T) industry to depart for a visit to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) tomorrow (March 3), with a view to strengthening Hong Kong's ties and co-operation in such areas as I&T with the two countries.
Members of the delegation include the Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks (HKSTP) Corporation, Mr Albert Wong; the Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited, Mr Peter Yan, and representatives of more than 10 technology enterprises from the two I&T flagships and relevant industries.
Professor Sun will visit Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on March 3 and 4, during which he will attend the LEAP 2024 technology conference to inaugurate the Hong Kong Pavilion staged by the HKSTP Corporation and Cyberport at the event. He will also deliver a keynote speech at the conference on Hong Kong as the "super value-adder" in fostering global I&T collaboration. The delegation will then visit Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the UAE from March 5 to 7. The itineraries of the delegation include meetings with local political, business and I&T leaders, and visits to local I&T clusters and enterprises.
Professor Sun will return to Hong Kong in the afternoon on March 8. During his absence, the Under Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, Ms Lillian Cheong, will be the Acting Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry.
