Sewerage works under Hung Shui Kiu/Ha Tsuen New Development Area and Hung Shui Kiu Effluent Polishing Plant authorised

     The Chief Executive in Council has authorised the scheme for the sewerage works under Hung Shui Kiu/Ha Tsuen New Development Area Advance Works Phase 3 and Stage 2 Works – Site Formation and Engineering Infrastructure; and Hung Shui Kiu Effluent Polishing Plant with modifications as stated in a notice gazetted today (January 19).

     The sewerage scheme comprises the following:

1. construction of about 13 900 metres of gravity sewers and associated manholes;
2. construction of about 4 000m of twin rising mains and associated manholes;
3. construction of four sewage pumping stations and an effluent polishing plant;
4. demolition of about 800m of gravity sewers and associated manholes along Road D1 and Road P1;
5. construction of about 400m of emergency discharge pipes; and
6. ancillary works including temporary closure and reinstatement of carriageways, footpaths, accesses, cycle tracks, central reserves/refuge islands/traffic islands, amenity areas/verges and run-ins/ run-outs or parts thereof.

     Details of the sewerage scheme were published in the Government Gazette on September 30, 2022, and October 7, 2022.

     Construction works for the sewerage scheme will be carried out by the Civil Engineering and Development Department and the Drainage Services Department in conjunction with the road works in Hung Shui Kiu/Ha Tsuen New Development Area Advance Works Phase 3 and Stage 2 Works – Site Formation and Engineering Infrastructure.
