To celebrate the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the Government and different sectors of the community will roll out a rich array of activities and special offers, covering areas including arts and culture, sports, transport, environmental protection, fisheries and agriculture, and dining for members of the public to share the joy of the National Day. The National Day Fireworks Display will return over the Victoria Harbour on the night of the National Day on October 1. The Government and various community organisations will hold an array of vibrant celebratory events in the 18 districts.
The public can enjoy 50 per cent off all commercial cinema tickets on the whole day of October 1. Free admission will be offered to a range of fee-charging leisure and cultural facilities of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and to the Hong Kong Wetland Park under the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department on October 1. Different offers, including the arrangements or enhancements of free guided tours and workshops, as well as the provision of food and beverage and residence offers, will be rolled out from September 26 to October 8 by the 12 projects under the Revitalising Historic Buildings Through Partnership Scheme.
As for transportation, the public can enjoy free travel on Light Rail and MTR Bus, as well as free rides on all tram routes and certain ferry routes on October 1. Child Octopus users can further enjoy free rides on the MTR heavy rail network, as well as on daytime bus routes of KMB and Long Win Bus.
Meanwhile, members of the public can enjoy a 26 per cent discount for designated products at the "Local Fresh" physical store or online store of the Fish Marketing Organization and the Vegetable Marketing Organization from October 1 to 7. The general public can also earn six times or additional GREEN$ from October 1 to 2 by recycling via the Environmental Protection Department's community recycling network, GREEN@COMMUNITY, or participating in food waste recycling using smart recycling bins.
As for the catering industry, more than 1 000 restaurants are expected to offer discounts on designated cuisines or catering items on October 1. Individual organisations, shopping malls and wet markets will roll out different shopping offers.
