Applications open for HKO public course on weather observation (with photo)

     The Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) will organise a weather observation course from October to November. Applications are now open to the public and will close on October 3.
 
     The course, which consists of lectures and weather observation practices, will be delivered by experienced meteorological personnel of the HKO. It will cover topics of basic weather observation techniques and methods, such as the observation and classification of clouds. Lecturers will also introduce various weather phenomena and hazards, the interpretation of weather charts and proverbs, as well as the applications of weather observation in weather forecasting. The goal is to provide participants with a better understanding of the weather and the appropriate response to weather changes.
 
     In addition, lecturers will show participants the use of weather information on the "MyObservatory" mobile app and the HKO website, and how to make use of the platforms on the Community Weather Observing Scheme to share weather information.
 
     The course comprises two sessions, which will be held from 9.15am to 12.30pm on October 28 and November 4 at the Hong Kong Observatory Headquarters. The course will be conducted in Cantonese, and the fee is $150 per person. The application deadline is October 3.
