​A correctional officer at Lo Wu Correctional Institution stopped a female person in custody attacking a staff member today (August 30).
At 11.56am today, a 27-year-old female person in custody suddenly became emotional and attacked a correctional officer outside a cell. The officer at the scene immediately stopped the assailant.
During the incident, the officer sustained injury to her arm. After examination and treatment by the medical officer at the institution hospital, she was referred to a public hospital for further treatment. The assailant did not sustain any injury.
The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.
The assailant was sentenced to imprisonment for the offence of riot in November 2019.
