​The Permanent Secretary for Environment and Ecology (Environment), Miss Janice Tse, today (August 17) led a delegation to attend the 2023 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition (MIECF) in Macao.
To tie in with the theme of the 2023 MICEF, which is "Building an Ecological Civilisation Through Innovative Initiatives", the exhibition booth of the Environment and Ecology Bureau is presenting a number of innovative initiatives of government departments and the industries, including air pollutant monitoring, sewage surveillance, environmental enforcement, waste recycling and food waste management technologies, which provide green impetus for the sustainable development of society and ecological civilisation.
Miss Tse officiated alongside officials of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Government and other guests at the opening ceremony of the MIECF, before paying a courtesy call on the Secretary for Transport and Public Works of the Macao SAR, Mr Raimundo Arrais do Rosário, to exchange views on various environmental subjects and collaboration opportunities.
After touring the exhibition and exchanging views with Hong Kong exhibitors, Miss Tse returned to Hong Kong in the early afternoon. Other delegation members, led by the Director of Environmental Protection, Dr Samuel Chui, continued to conduct technical visits to the Cotai Ecological Zones and provisional sewage treatment facilities near the Macau Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal before returning to Hong Kong in the late afternoon.
