The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Brussels (HKETO, Brussels), supports a Hong Kong theatre group, Théâtre de la Feuille, to give 18 performances of its work, "Fall and Flow", at the Festival Off Avignon.
Adressing guests at a reception hosted by the HKETO, Brussels on July 9, Special Representative for Hong Kong Economic and Trade Affairs to the European Union, Miss Shirley Yung, remarked that Hong Kong is a thriving cultural hub in Asia with a unique East-meets-West culture, of which Théâtre de la Feuille was a good example.
"The creative team got the inspiration from their previous training in the theatre created by the celebrated Jacques Lecoq in France and applied it to traditional Asian and Hong Kong arts, with exciting results," Miss Yung said. Highlighting the latest development of the West Kowloon Cultural District and significant art events, Miss Yung invited guests to visit Hong Kong to experience its rich cultural scene at first hand.
Théâtre de la Feuille is a Hong Kong theatre group that tell stories with body movements. Its work of "Fall and Flow" is a non-verbal comedy, inspired by the famous Wuxia and Kung Fu films of Hong Kong.
The Festival Off Avignon is one of the biggest festivals of independent and alternative theatre in the world, attracting 300 000 audiences from around the world every year. The 57th edition of the Festival takes place from July 7 to 29, 2023.
