The Transport Department (TD) announced today (July 7) that the booking service of the Specified Dates Booking System under "Northbound Travel for Hong Kong Vehicles" will be suspended from 0.00am to noon tomorrow (July 8) for system enhancements to launch the timeslot booking function.
Starting from noon on July 8, vehicles issued with the Mainland electronic vehicle licence and a Closed Road Permit (CRP) under "Northbound Travel for Hong Kong vehicles" can reserve the date of travel for the period from July 11 to 31 to enter Guangdong Province via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) Hong Kong Port via the Specified Dates Booking System. The applicants should also select the specified date and time for travel. They may make reference to the six designated timeslots in the Annex. Eligible applicants may reserve the specified date and time for travel in August from July 15 through the system.
The arrangements for a successful booking before the system enhancement (i.e. July 8) are as follows:
- Applicants with a booking for travel from July 8 to 10 can travel at any timeslot on the designated date reserved.
- Applicants with a booking for travel from July 11 to 31 will be assigned one designated timeslot from the system with email notifications. In case the applicants consider that the assigned timeslot is not suited to their travel arrangement, they may log into the Specified Dates Booking System via the dedicated website of "Northbound Travel for Hong Kong Vehicles" (www.hzmbqfs.gov.hk) and change their travel booking. Applicants are required to cancel the booking no less than three calendar days before departure via the System, and to make a new booking on the specified date and time for travelling at least two calendar days in advance via the System.
The TD reminds applicants that if a vehicle issued with a CRP for "Northbound Travel for Hong Kong vehicles" travels to Guangdong Province via the HZMB outside the reserved/assigned specified date and time, the law enforcement authorities of the Mainland and Hong Kong may refuse its entry to Guangdong Province via the HZMB.
The TD may also deprive them from reserving the specified date and time through the Specified Dates Booking System or revoke the CRP.
To ensure the implementation of "Northbound Travel for Hong Kong vehicles” in an orderly manner, the governments of Guangdong and Hong Kong agreed to introduce a cap on the number of travelling vehicles per day. According to the existing number of vehicles which have completed the approval procedures of the Mainland and Hong Kong, there is adequate capacity in the HZMB Hong Kong Port to handle customs clearance procedures for approved vehicle travel. As more citizens are approved to participate in the "Northbound Travel for Hong Kong Vehicles", the TD will review and adjust the relevant arrangements according to the actual situation and announce the details in due course.
