“Family Camp Out Night” to be held at Tai Po Waterfront Park in November

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will hold "Family Camp Out Night.Tai Po Waterfront Park" on November 12 and 13 (Saturday and Sunday) as an event of its Happy@Parks campaign to continue the joyful ambience in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). During the event, participants can experience the fun of parent-child camping and other activities at designated lawns in a public park. This event is under the exclusive sponsorship of the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) and is one of the many initiatives supported by the HKJC's approved donation of $630 million to the Government of the HKSAR to mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR, demonstrating that the HKJC is resolute in pursuing its purpose of acting continuously for the betterment of society, all in support of creating a stronger community together.

     Participants in the parent-child camping activity will enjoy a pleasant and special weekend in the park from 2.30pm on November 12 onwards by taking part in a series of activities, namely kite-making and flying, playing games of lawn bowls, touring a floral display and Spiral Lookout Tower, as well as a wide variety of Day Activity events and Night Activity events. The latter, which include stargazing, folk song singing, an Insect House experience tour and insect appreciation, will be held from 7pm to 10.30pm. In addition, fun-filled Day Activity events such as an Ecological Path tour, tree orienteering, kite flying and family fun games will start from 7.30am the next day (November 13). 

     Apart from the parent-child camping participants, all members of the public are also welcome to join the Night Activity and Day Activity events on the spot. All events will end at noon on November 13.

     Admission for all these activities is free. Applicants for the parent-child camping activity should enrol in a family unit, with a minimum of two and a maximum of four persons, including parents and at least one participant under the age of 18. Interested families can obtain application forms from the District Leisure Services Offices and submit the forms in person or by post to the Tai Po Leisure Services Office, or through the Leisure Link Webpage or its Self-service Kiosks from tomorrow (September 28) to October 7. There will be a quota for the parent-child camping activity, and place allocation will be made by ballot on October 18 if the number of applications exceeds the quota. On the other hand, for the Night Activity and Day Activity events, people of all ages are welcome to enrol on the spot.      In order to comply with the requirements stipulated in the Prevention and Control of Disease (Requirements and Directions) (Business and Premises) Regulation (Cap. 599F) and relevant requirements of administrative instructions, participants are required to scan the "LeaveHomeSafe" QR code and produce their vaccination records for the person-in-charge to carry out a visual inspection before being allowed to enter the event premises. Participants must wear masks at all times during the event in accordance with the Prevention and Control of Disease (Wearing of Mask) Regulation (Cap. 599I).

     In accordance with the Prevention and Control of Disease (Vaccine Pass) Regulation (Cap. 599L) and relevant requirements of administrative instructions, all persons entering or remaining at the above event must comply with the requirement of the Vaccine Pass. The Government has added the Red Code and the Amber Code into the Vaccine Pass to differentiate persons with higher risk of infection. Venue staff will deny entry of relevant persons in accordance with relevant rules.

     To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR, the LCSD is organising a series of Happy@Parks activities with various themes from June to December this year in six LCSD parks, allowing users to experience the joyful atmosphere with their family on holiday through a variety of activities and games. Visitors can also collect stamp collection cards at the above venues and participate in the LCSD's souvenir redemption scheme. Upon joining selected celebration programmes, members of the public can receive a stamp and those who have collected four stamps by participating in two cultural and two leisure and sports programmes within this year can redeem a box of the commemorative LCSD Board Game for the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR designed by an illustrator, while stocks last.      Moreover, the Happy@Parks "Family Camp Out Night.Tai Po Waterfront Park" has joined the "iAM Smart" Reward Scheme. There will be an "iAM Smart" registration counter at the venue, and dedicated staff will assist members of the public to register for "iAM Smart" and collect an electronic stamp.
