The Government's financial assistance of $14 million to PMQ, under the sixth round of the Anti-epidemic Fund, will be used for relieving rentals payable by PMQ tenants from today (April 1) until September.
"The cancellation or postponement of large-scale flagship creative events in Hong Kong and tightening of social distancing measures amid the pandemic has led to a sharp decrease in the number of visitors to PMQ. The financial assistance will help to relieve the heavy business pressure of PMQ tenants, who are mainly start-up entrepreneurs in the creative industries," a spokesman for the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau said.
During the said period, rentals payable by PMQ's tenants will be reduced by 75 per cent. About 100 tenants in total will stand to benefit.
