Caritas Medical Centre makes appeal regarding missing patient

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     The spokesperson for Caritas Medical Centre (CMC) made the following appeal today (March 11) regarding a patient who left the hospital without prior notification:

     An 80-year-old male patient with dementia was conveyed to the Accident and Emergency (A&E) Department of CMC by ambulance for shortness of breath and fever today. The patient, who tested negative for COVID-19 by rapid antigen test, was found leaving the hospital without prior notification at around 1.45pm while waiting for the examination results at the waiting area.

     Security guards were deployed to search for the patient within the hospital compound and the vicinity. The hospital also made a report to the Police for assistance. The hospital is very concerned about the incident and will fully co-operate with the Police to locate the patient.

     The patient is about 1.55 to 1.6 metres tall and has a slim build, a round face and white short hair. He was wearing a black T-shirt, a black jacket and grey pants when leaving the A&E Department.

     The hospital appeals to the public to contact Cheung Sha Wan Police Station at 3661 1644 or call 999 if they know the whereabouts of the patient.
