The Food and Health Bureau (FHB) today (March 8) said that a secretary of the FHB has tested positive for COVID-19 with a rapid test.

The secretary is responsible for secretarial duties for the Secretary for Food and Health, Professor Sophia Chan. She does not need to have contact with the public and had no recent travel history. She wore masks and followed relevant disease prevention measures at work. She last performed duties on March 4, which was also the day she last met with Professor Chan.

Professor Chan has been taking COVID-19 rapid tests every day and the results are all negative. For prudence's sake, Professor Chan has already undergone testing with professional swab sampling this morning and the result is also negative.

The FHB has conducted thorough cleaning and sterilisation at the workplace concerned, and relevant staff members will continue to undergo COVID-19 rapid testing on a daily basis.

The FHB will continue to implement disease prevention measures vigorously, and has reminded all staff members to pay attention to personal hygiene and stay vigilant at all times. They should seek medical advice if they feel unwell.
