Police today (March 4) arrested a 41-year-old woman in suspected connection with an infanticide case in Tseun Wan.
At around 5.30am today, Police received a report that a two-week-old baby girl was suspected to fall from height and was found lying under a footbridge near 18 Castle Peak Road�Tsing Lung Tau. Police officers sped to the scene. The baby girl was rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 10.01am.
Initial investigations revealed that the 41-year-old woman threw her baby girl from the footbridge. She was arrested for infanticide and is being detained for further enquiries.
Post-mortem examination will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of the baby's death.
Investigation by the Regional Crime Unit of New Territories South (Child Abuse Investigation Unit) is underway.
