The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government has been working closely with the Guangdong Provincial Government and the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government to explore various means to stabilise the supply of goods to Hong Kong.
In addition to the launch of the "Sea Express" water transportation service, the Transport and Housing Bureau, together with the trade, the MTR Corporation Limited and relevant government departments, conducted a trial this morning (February 27) to test the operation of the MTR Lo Wu Marshalling Yard as a temporary railway freight yard. The trial went smoothly.
The HKSAR Government and the Mainland authorities are having in-depth discussion on the detailed operation of railway cargo transportation, and are pushing forward a trial run within this week to ensure its smooth operation.
The HKSAR Government expressed gratitude to the Central Government, the Guangdong Provincial Government and the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government for their support all along. The HKSAR Government will continue to facilitate and implement various measures with the Mainland authorities to ensure a stable goods supply to Hong Kong as well as to optimise the operation of cross-boundary transportation of supplies.
