The Marine Department (MD) today (February 25) said that the Aberdeen Marine Office (AMO) is temporarily closed until further notice as an Assistant Clerical Officer of that office is suspected of contracting COVID-19. For licensing and port formalities services, members of the public can visit the Central Marine Office, Tuen Mun Marine Office or Sai Kung Marine Office.
The Assistant Clerical Officer tested preliminarily positive upon COVID-19 rapid antigen tests. He last performed duties at the AMO on February 24, working at a counter behind a partition to keep an appropriate social distance from the public. He wore masks and followed relevant disease prevention measures while at work.
Upon notification of the case, the MD immediately arranged for all the relevant staff members to undergo COVID-19 testing and thorough cleaning and disinfection of the AMO.
The MD has been strictly implementing various disease prevention measures during the epidemic and will continue to maintain close liaison with the Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health. Staff members are reminded to pay attention to personal hygiene and to stay vigilant. They should seek medical advice immediately if feeling unwell.
