A spokesman for the Innovation and Technology Bureau (ITB) said today (February 22) that two drivers have tested preliminarily positive for COVID-19.
One driver is responsible for driving duties for the Secretary for Innovation and Technology (S for IT), Mr Alfred Sit. The driver concerned had undergone a self-paid test at a community testing centre yesterday (February 21) and received a preliminary positive result today (February 22). He last performed duties on February 19.
The other driver is responsible for driving duties for the Under Secretary for Innovation and Technology, Dr David Chung. The driver got a preliminary positive result for COVID-19 with a rapid test on February 18. He returned a deep throat saliva specimen in accordance with the guidelines of the Department of Health on February 19. He last performed duties on February 17. Both drivers did not have contact with the public and had no recent travel history. They wore masks and followed relevant disease prevention measures at work.
Mr Sit and Dr Chung have taken COVID-19 rapid tests and the results are negative. For the sake of prudence, staff in the Principal Official's Office in the ITB need to undergo swab sampling for COVID-19 testing.
