The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:
​As at 0.00am today (February 16), a total of 2 654 patients who are suspected of having or have tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus are currently being treated in the North Lantau Hospital Hong Kong Infection Control Centre, the Hospital Authority (HA) Infectious Disease Centre, the Community Treatment Facility at AsiaWorld-Expo and public hospitals, including 16 critical confirmed patients (case numbers: 14814, 17506, 17550, 18489, 18881, 20463, 22887, 22947, 23156, 23314, 23348, 24016, 24674, 24675, 24702 and 24750). There were 238 patients discharged yesterday (February 15).
In addition, there are around 2 000 patients isolated in the Community Isolation Facility in Penny's Bay.
There are 10 confirmed or preliminarily confirmed patients passed away since yesterday, including a 100-year-old female patient succumbed in Tseung Kwan O Hospital at 8.01pm yesterday, and a three-year-old girl succumbed in Hong Kong Children's Hospital at 8.37pm yesterday. Both cases were announced last night.
In addition, a 82-year-old female patient succumbed at Caritas Medical Centre (CMC) at 3.45am yesterday morning; a 72-year-old male patient succumbed at Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) at 10.14pm yesterday; a 90-year-old female patient succumbed at Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital (PYNEH) at 10.17pm yesterday; a 75-year-old female patient succumbed at United Christian Hospital at 11.07pm yesterday; a 97-year-old male patient succumbed at Queen Mary Hospital at 2.26am this morning; a 97-year-old female patient succumbed at QEH at 5.55am this morning; a 37-year-old male patient succumbed at PYNEH at 9.53am this morning, and a 74-year-old male patient succumbed at CMC at 3.30pm today.
Including the above-mentioned cases, 225 COVID-19 confirmed or preliminarily confirmed patients have passed away in public hospitals so far.
The HA will maintain close contact with the Centre for Health Protection to monitor the latest developments and to inform the public and healthcare workers on the latest information in a timely manner.
