In view of a recent spate of wild pig attacks at Mount Parker Road in the Eastern District, the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) captured wild pigs in the area at noon today (February 14) to safeguard public safety. A veterinarian used a dart gun to capture three wild pigs for humane dispatch through medicine injection.

Since the announcement of the new strategy for management of wild pigs in November 2021, the AFCD captured and humanely dispatched a total of 63 wild pigs that have caused nuisance near urban or residential areas, or posed potential risks to public safety. The number of wild pigs captured and humanely dispatched is available at the AFCD's website via the following link for public reference: www.afcd.gov.hk/english/conservation/con_fau/con_fau_nui/con_fau_nui_pig/con_fau_nui_pig.html.
