A contractor was fined $56,000 at Shatin Magistrates' Courts today (February 11) for violation of the Construction Sites (Safety) Regulations. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.

The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on June 4, 2021, at an upper floor unit under renovation of an industrial building in Sha Tin. While carrying out preparation work for truss-out scaffold erection at the external wall of the unit, a scaffolder plunged to the second floor of the building and died.
