The Water Supplies Department (WSD) today (February 7) said that an outsourced cleaning service contractor's worker of the Tuen Mun Water Treatment Works has tested preliminarily positive for COVID-19 yesterday (February 6). There is no effect on drinking water safety.
The worker last performed her duties on January 31. She had worn face masks and followed relevant disease prevention measures at work.
The WSD has thoroughly cleaned and sterilised the Tuen Mun Water Treatment Works. Staff who had close contact with her at work have been arranged to undergo COVID-19 testing.
During the pandemic, the WSD has been strictly implementing various disease prevention measures, including providing masks and other personal protective equipment for staff. Staff members are reminded to pay attention to personal hygiene and to stay vigilant. They should seek medical advice immediately if feeling unwell. The WSD has also reminded its contractors to strictly implement disease prevention measures.
