Wounding case in Kwai Chung reclassified as murder

     Police today (October 12) reclassified a wounding case in Kwai Chung yesterday (October 11) as murder.

     At around 4.44pm yesterday, Police received a report that a man was shouting for help in a unit on 180 Lai King Hill Road, Kwai Chung.

     Police officers sped to the scene and found a 78-year-old man sustaining multiple injuries. He was rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital in unconscious state for treatment. After initial investigation, Police arrested a 31-year-old man for wounding at the scene.

     The 78-year-old man was certified dead at 1.34am today.

     Upon further investigation, Police reclassified the case as murder. Police seized two fruit knives, in suspected connection with the case, at scene. The 31-year-old man is being detained for further enquiries.

     Post-mortem examinations will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of death of the deceased.

     Active investigation by the District Crime Squad of Kwai Tsing is underway. Anyone who witnessed the case or has any information to offer is urged to contact the investigating officers on 3661 2941.
