Cluster of Norovirus cases in Queen Elizabeth Hospital

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:
 
     The spokesperson for Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) made the following announcement today (October 4):
 
     Three female and one male paediatric patients (aged 10 months to 35 months) in the paediatrics ward of QEH had presented with vomiting or diarrhoea symptoms since September 21. Appropriate viral tests had been arranged for the patients and all were positive for Norovirus. The patients are being treated under isolation with stable condition.
 
     Infection control measures of the ward concerned have already been stepped up according to prevailing guidelines. All other patients in the ward are under close medical surveillance.
 
     The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
