Police deeply grieved by the passing of Senior Police Inspector

     The Commissioner of Police, Mr Siu Chak-yee, was deeply grieved by the passing of Senior Police Inspector, Ms Lam Yuen-yee while she was performing duties on September 25 morning. He extended deepest condolences to Ms Lam's family.
      
     A Marine Police vessel was hit and overturned when performing duty at the waters near Sha Chau on September 25 morning. Four officers onboard fell to the sea and three of the officers were rescued at scene while a senior Police Inspector, Ms Lam Yuen-yee, went missing. Police, the Marine Department, the Fire Services Department and the Government Flying Service conducted joint search and rescue operation for days.
      
     Senior Police Inspector, Ms Lam Yuen-yee, was found in Yi O today (September 27). She was certified dead at scene. Investigations by the Regional Crime Unit of Marine are underway.
      
     The Force Welfare Services Group has been in touch with Ms Lam's family and would make every effort to help. The department also expresses sympathy to other three injured officers and wishes them a speedy recovery.
      
     Ms Lam, aged 37, joined the Force in 2007. She was attached to the Small Boat Division of the Marine Police and had 14 years of police work experience.
