Social enterprises demonstrate diversity at Hong Kong Trade Development Council Food Expo 2021

     The Hong Kong Trade Development Council Food Expo 2021 is set to open on Thursday (August 12). Ten social enterprises participating in the Food Expo will be offering various organic and natural food products, fair trade or locally produced products and community-made food products for purchase. Their socially disadvantaged employees will also interact with customers to foster social integration. Information on the exhibiting social enterprises and their products is set out in the annex.
 
     The social enterprises will be located at Booth C02 of Hall 1E at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
 
     Visitors patronising the social enterprise booth of the Food Expo can redeem a souvenir while stocks last upon reaching the spending requirement. 
 
     The Food Expo will be open from 10am to 10pm from August 12 to 15, and from 10am to 6pm on August 16. The admission fee is $25. Admission is free for children aged 3 or below and senior citizens aged 65 or above.
 
     A spokesman for the Home Affairs Department said, "The Food Expo serves as a platform for social enterprises to showcase their quality products and services, and to demonstrate their diversity. We hope the public will support and patronise the social enterprises, which will help them sustain business and their underprivileged employees sustain employment and development."
 
     Members of the public who wish to visit social enterprise restaurants can search for "social enterprise restaurants" in OpenRice's website or mobile application for more information. The search function for "social enterprise restaurants" is included in OpenRice's website and mobile application under the sponsorship of the Home Affairs Department.
 
     Social enterprises nowadays have shown greater diversity in their scope of services and target groups. Those who would like to support social enterprises can visit the Social Enterprise Directory (www.socialenterprise.org.hk/en/sedb) (with a mobile application and an online search engine) published by the Social Enterprise Business Centre for more information on over 600 social enterprises in Hong Kong.
