Hong Kong swimming athlete Siobhan Bernadette Haughey added a silver medal to the HKSAR's tally in the Women's 200m Freestyle of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games this morning (July 28). The President of the Legislative Council (LegCo), Mr Andrew Leung, on behalf of all LegCo Members, issued a letter today to congratulate Haughey and her entire training team.
Mr Leung said, "Racing against the world's best swimmers, Siobhan Bernadette Haughey displayed perseverance. She has not only won a silver medal for Hong Kong, but has also broken the Asian record. She has been receiving arduous training and always reminds herself to seek breakthroughs. Her spirit of striving for continued improvement is both admirable and worthy of emulation."
Mr Leung added, "There has been a spate of exciting news for the people of Hong Kong these days. I believe that we will all continue to stand in solidarity in supporting Hong Kong athletes who are still competing in various events at the Tokyo Olympics."
