The Labour Department (LD) today (July 23) said that, arising from the Government's exercise of the power under the Prevention and Control of Disease (Compulsory Testing for Certain Persons) Regulation (Cap. 599J) and the publication yesterday (July 22) in the Gazette of a compulsory testing notice that requires any person who had been present at specified premises during the specified period to undergo a COVID-19 nucleic acid test, the Hong Kong East Office of the Labour Relations Division under the LD is temporarily closed today. Services are affected and the LD has been informing the clients who made service appointments.
For information about employment rights and benefits, members of the public may browse the LD's website at www.labour.gov.hk/eng/faq/content.htm, or call the 24-hour enquiry hotline 2717 1771 (handled by 1823).
In addition, the Telephone Employment Service Centre, the Job Vacancy Processing Centre and the Secretariat of the Greater Bay Area Youth Employment Scheme can only provide limited services today. The processing time for individual cases may take longer than usual.
Job seekers can use the Interactive Employment Service website (www.jobs.gov.hk) for job searches. All Job Centres and industry-based Recruitment Centres will operate as usual to provide employment services (telephone numbers are shown at www.jobs.gov.hk/1/0/WebForm/information/en/our_service/info_jobcentres.aspx).
