The summer festival International Arts Carnival will open this July with the latest original musical, "Cinematic Memories on Train No. 5" by Actors' Family, offering audiences a touching look at family ties.
Featuring talented actors Harriet Yeung (known as Hatou) and Joe Wong, the original musical brings together Chiu Tsang-hei, the programme's Music Director, and young musicians from the Inheritage Philharmonic to perform live on stage.
The story of the musical revolves around Robbie's grandmother who has been suffering from dementia and is now about to enter heaven. Before finally departing, she asks her cherished grandson to join her on an imaginary rail trip into the past to sort out old conflicts resulting from her condition.
Established in 1991 by graduates of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Actors' Family produces Cantonese musicals that reflect daily lives with an aim to engage audiences and promote local theatre arts. As Hong Kong's leading musical theatre company, Actors' Family is committed to fostering original musical theatre development and enriching the cultural lifestyle of the city.
Over the years, this group has created and adapted various popular musical productions, many of which received nominations and awards at the Hong Kong Drama Awards.
