The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

The spokesperson for the Hospital Authority (HA) made the following statement today (February 19) regarding the dissemination of false information by some healthcare workers concerning the "LeaveHomeSafe" mobile app:

As a public healthcare organisation, the HA has always encouraged members of the public to fight the virus on all fronts together. Preventing transmission of the virus and tracing contacts of confirmed patients are important steps in controlling the virus. In this regard, the HA has implemented relevant measures and appealed for the co-operation of the public, patients and healthcare workers. With due regard to privacy protection, the HA believes that recording access and departure in public venues through the "LeaveHomeSafe" mobile app can help prevent transmission of the virus and facilitate contact tracing. Members of the public can also be informed of the risks through the records.

While strongly refuting the false information disseminated by some healthcare workers concerning the "LeaveHomeSafe" mobile app, the HA urges them to stop further promulgation of the information and avoid misleading the public.
