The spokesperson for Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital (PYNEH) today (January 19) announced that a patient confirmed with COVID-19 passed away last night (January 18).
An 80-year-old female patient (case number: 6255) with chronic illness and close contact history was admitted to a PYNEH isolation ward on November 29 last year due to cough and fever and tested positive for COVID-19. Her condition continued to deteriorate and she was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit on December 1. The patient eventually succumbed at 9.10pm last night.
The hospital is saddened by the passing away of the patient and will offer the necessary assistance to her family.
Including the above patient, 160 COVID-19 confirmed patients have passed away in public hospitals so far.
