The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health (DH) today (December 6) said that three staff members from its home quarantine taskforce and one staff member from its Port Health Division (PHD) have preliminarily tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The three staff members currently deployed to the home quarantine taskforce include a Senior Ambulanceman working part-time at the taskforce and two full-time post retirement Senior Ambulancemen. All of them work on the fourth floor of CHP Building and are responsible for answering calls and enquiries from persons under home quarantine and hotel quarantine. They do not have contact with members of the public during their daily work at the taskforce. They last performed duties on December 1, 5 and 6. They wore surgical masks while performing duties and properly maintained social distancing with people they had contacted. Their body temperatures were normal when undergoing temperature screening during work.
The Senior Ambulanceman working part-time at the taskforce had transported a confirmed case of COVID-19 when discharging his full-time work on November 27.
Concerning the staff member of PHD, she works in the control point at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Hong Kong Port and is responsible for providing assistance to inbound travellers to complete electronic health declaration. She is the close contact of a confirmed case. She last performed her duties on November 28. She wore surgical masks while performing duties and properly maintained social distancing with people she had contacted. Her body temperature was normal when undergoing temperature screening during work.
The CHP has initiated the epidemiological investigations on the four preliminary positive cases. Thorough cleaning and disinfection operations have been conducted at the concerned workplaces. Arrangements have also been made for colleagues working with the officers to work from home and they will undergo COVID-19 testing.
