The Chief Executive today (November 25) announced the "Chief Executive's 2020 Policy Address" which elaborated on aspects safeguarding national security and the protection of people's lives and property.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr Tang Ping-keung, expressed his full support for the Policy Address and will lead the Force to work with other disciplinary forces in maintaining national and Hong Kong’s security. The Police Force will strictly enforce the law and strive its utmost to defend Hong Kong. If someone violates the law, regardless of his or her status or background, the Police will handle the cases in a fair, just and impartial manner.
The Law of the People’s Republic of China on Safeguarding National Security in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region came into effect on June 30 this year. The Police Force, by exercising the powers conferred by the law, will prevent and combat all acts and activities that endanger national security, with a view to maintaining Hong Kong as one of the safest cities in the world.
