Protecting consumers

On Wednesday MEPs are expected to call for measures to create a more sustainable single market by strengthening consumers’ “right to repair,” preventing practices that intentionally shorten the lifespan of products and promoting a culture of reuse.

They will also call for greater efforts to improve product safety and protect consumers at EU level.

MEPs will vote on new rules to allow groups of consumers to take collective legal action at national and EU level. Results will be announced on Wednesday.

Industrial strategy

MEPs will debate the EU’s industrial strategy on Monday and are set to adopt a resolution on TWednesday, calling for a revision to the European Commission’s proposal to reflect the measures needed to recover from the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, while contributing to the EU’s green and digital goals.

Media freedom

The state of media freedom in the EU will discussed on Monday, with MEPs focusing on the protection of journalists, political interference, disinformation and the role of platforms. On Wednesday, MEPs will discuss Hungarian interference in the media in Slovenia and North Macedonia.

Digitalisation of justice

Parliament is set to approve new rules on Tuesday to make access to justice faster, cheaper and more user-friendly for EU citizens and businesses through new digital solutions.

Council summit priorities

Ahead of the Council summit on 10-11 December MEPs are expected to raise issues ranging from the EU’s long-term budget and rule of law to Covid-19 testing and vaccines, EU climate targets and fighting terrorism in a debate with Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Wednesday.

Fighting homelessness

Parliament is set to call on the EU to end homelessness by 2030 on Monday.
