The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) announced today (October 5) that rental of market stalls at Tin Shui Wai Temporary Market will be open for application starting tomorrow (October 6).
The FEHD spokesman said, "Tin Shui Wai Temporary Market is expected to be completed and to commence operation before the end of this year. FEHD will be the landlord of the temporary market and responsible for determining the rental level and signing agreements with tenants. On this premise, we will introduce a new operation mode and strengthen the role of the service contractor in managing the market, with a view to enhancing business vibrancy and meeting the needs of the public. FEHD has engaged a service contractor through open tender for carrying out the daily management and operation of the market."
Tin Shui Wai Temporary Market is located adjacent to Tin Sau Road Park and will provide 40 market stalls. Among which, rental of 36 wet and dry goods stalls will be open for application from October 6 to October 23 and allocated by computer balloting.
The 36 stalls will be categorised into Category A and Category B. There will be a total of 24 stalls under Category A and the permitted commodities to be sold will include fresh meat market, frozen/chilled meat, fish, siu mei & lo mei, fruits, vegetables and other food-related wet goods. There will be a total of 12 stalls under Category B and the permitted commodities to be sold will include fruits, vegetables, other food-related wet goods, food-related dry goods and non-food-related dry goods.
Applicants should be aged 18 or above and ordinarily resident in Hong Kong. Those applicants with at least 3 years' experience in the operation of a relevant market stall may apply for a stall under Category A while other applicants may apply for a stall under Category B.
To support local employment in Tin Shui Wai, if an eligible applicant for rental of a stall in Category B is a local resident of Tin Shui Wai, the applicant will be given an additional ballot paper under that category to enhance the chance of a successful ballot exercise.
Starting from tomorrow, application forms can be downloaded from the FEHD website (www.fehd.gov.hk) or obtained at the District Environmental Hygiene Offices. The completed application form together with supporting documents shall be delivered at or before 6:00 p.m. on October 23, 2020 by fax (2443 1709), email (tswmkt@fehd.gov.hk), in person or by post to Yuen Long District Environmental Hygiene Office. Applicants can also fill in the online application form and submit the application online. Late applications will not be accepted.
The order of priority of eligible applicants in selecting a market stall for rental will be generated by open computer balloting. The date of ballot is scheduled for November 3. The result will be uploaded to the FEHD website (www.fehd.gov.hk) on the next day after the computer balloting for checking by the applicants. FEHD will subsequently issue letters to notify successful applicants of the stall rental arrangements.
