Correctional officers stopped a remand person in custody assaulting another remand person in custody in Stanley Prison today (May 11).
At around 7.40am, a 52-year-old male person in custody attacked another 27-year-old male person in custody inside the exercise yard. Officers at the scene immediately stopped the assailant and called for reinforcement. During the incident, the victim sustained injury to his head. After examination and treatment by the institution Medical Officer, he was referred to a public hospital for further treatment. The assailant did not sustain any injury.
The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.
The two persons in custody were remanded for the offence of trafficking in a dangerous drug and murder respectively.
