The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in December 2019 showed a drop of 181 cases, representing a decrease of 0.1 per cent compared with that of November, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (January 22).
The total CSSA caseload at the end of December stood at 220 175 (see attached table), with a total of 311 339 recipients.
Analysed by case nature, low-earnings cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 1.4 per cent to 3 002 cases. Both old age cases and single parent cases fell slightly by 0.3 per cent to 136 050 cases and 23 678 cases respectively.
Unemployment cases rose by 1.4 per cent to 12 570 cases. Ill-health cases edged up by 0.5 per cent to 23 917 cases while permanent disability cases increased by 0.4 per cent to 16 923 cases.
