The following is issued on behalf of the Electoral Affairs Commission:
Attention TV and radio duty announcers. Please broadcast the following special announcement immediately and repeat it at frequent intervals:
The Electoral Affairs Commission (EAC) today (November 24) appealed electors to vote at the District Council Ordinary Election as soon as possible. At the close of poll at 10.30 pm, polling stations will deploy polling staff to the end of the queue waiting to collect the ballot papers, holding a signboard to stop latecomers from joining the queue. Everyone already in the queue before the close of poll would certainly be allowed into the polling station to cast their votes. Late comers will not be allowed to enter the polling station.
As announced this morning, the polling hours for the polling stations at Kowloon Park Swimming Pool (E0101) and Buddhist Lim Kim Tian Memorial Primary School (S1401) were extended to 10.33pm. The abovementioned arrangement on holding a signboard to stop latecomers from joining the queue will be made at 10.33pm accordingly.
Long queues have been formed in some polling stations today because electors cast their votes at approximately the same time. The EAC appealed electors to wait patiently and orderly. Polling staff will serve electors as soon as possible.
