The sixth meeting of the Commission on Children was held today (November 15).
The Commission will conduct an engagement session on November 30 to exchange views with stakeholders on future work plans and canvass the views of social welfare non-governmental organisations, the education and medical sectors and children's rights groups, with a view to promoting children's rights as set out in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The Police were invited to brief the Commission on their handling of a child or young person in custody, whereas the Social Welfare Department presented their welfare services for children. Members had an extensive discussion and expressed views on a range of related concerns.
